High School Chemistry

Class Time: Mondays 4:30pm - 6:00pm
        Monthly Saturday Lab (4 hours/ TBD) 

Class Location: First Baptist Church of Boerne

Course Description: This course will cover the fundamental concepts of general inorganic chemistry 
          including formula naming, atomic structure, stoichiometry, gas laws, solutions, equilibria, redox reactions, 
          acid-base theory and nuclear chemistry. Also covered will be measurements, the mole concept, types of reactions, atomic theories, and chemical periodicity.


Curriculum: Exploring Creation with Chemistry, Second ed. (Apologia)
$25.00 supply fee per student per semester 

Prerequisite: Algebra I – Algebra review material will be distributed 2 weeks prior to the first class.

Class Fee: $45.00 per student/ per month.

Grades: High School

Instructor: Kathryn Farrell holds a B.S. in Environmental Engineering from Northwestern University
and a Master of Science degree in Radiological Hygiene from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
A former Project Scientist, she has also been employed by the State of North Carolina
(Division of Radiation Protection) as an Environmental Specialist.
Mrs. Farrell is Highly Qualified to teach Science and Math 8-12 by the Texas Education Agency (TExES).
